Nursery
Welcome to our Nursery Page
Welcome to our Edgware Primary Nursery. We are a friendly and welcoming Nursery. We aspire to make all children confident and independent learners, with a love for learning.
Our Nursery offers a warm, stimulating, and nurturing environment where children begin their learning journey through play, exploration and discovery. Guided by the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), we support every child’s development across the seven areas of learning in a way that is fun, engaging and meaningful. Our environment is designed to foster their early development across all areas.
Relationships are built quickly to ensure that children feel secure and safe within their environment. Basic skills are developed to ensure children quickly gain independence.
We nurture children's confidence, independence and emotional awareness through activities that promote kindness, cooperation and resilience. Children learn to share, take turns, and manage their feelings—such as working as a team to build a tower or talking about their emotions during circle time.
Children enjoy a wide range of carefully planned activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, and independence. Through imaginative play, they take on different roles, invent stories, and learn to express themselves, developing their communication, language, and social skills along the way. We have daily singing and story telling and ensure the children have access to rich vocabulary.
Children build early mathematical understanding through hands-on experiences such as counting objects, sorting shapes, measuring ingredients in cooking, or creating patterns with natural materials. Songs, games and stories also support their developing number sense.
Our Nursery provides a balance of indoor and outdoor learning, giving children opportunities to explore and interact with the natural world. Whether they’re observing seasonal changes, experimenting with natural materials, or expressing ideas through art, children are supported in making connections across different areas of learning.
Physical development is a key part of the Nursery experience. Children strengthen both fine and gross motor skills through hands-on activities such as painting, building, threading, climbing, balancing, and riding bikes and scooters.
Above all, we aim to foster a love of learning and to build strong foundations for children’s future success—academically, socially and emotionally.
